The network detected a malicious application «London Olympics Widget» for Android-devices

When installed on a user's device, the application gets access to your contacts, text messages, as well as steals ID-device and the data about its location.

Webroot's experts have found application for mobile devices based on Android, which supposedly allows users to view news about the Olympic Games 2012, which currently take place in London.


Appendix titled «London Olympics Widget» signed digital certificate, which indicates that the program was supposedly developed in New Delhi in India.

When installed on a user's device, the application gets access to your contacts, text messages, as well as steals ID-device and the data about its location.

Note that this is not the first time that hackers are using the Olympics theme for the dissemination of malicious software. Earlier it was reported sending spam e-mails about the Olympic Games, which had a seating capacity malicious PDF-files. In addition, the network is also a large number of fake websites that claim to offer users to buy tickets to sporting events.
