New operating system from Microsoft: Windows Phone 8

Today announced a preliminary version of WP8 (Preview), and the release is scheduled for autumn this year.

The main innovation of the platform was a new kernel, which will be shared with the core desktop operating system, Windows 8. Thus, mobile users can use the software for the "older" system. The new system will support multi-core chips, microSD memory card and the new screen resolutions - 800x480 than 1280x720, and will also 1280h768 pixels. All existing applications for Windows Phone 7 (ie, designed for 800x480 resolution) will be able to work on the device with higher resolution.
The system will be integrated, Internet Explorer 10, which will have many features of desktop version, such as SmartScreen anti-phishing.

Games for Windows developers can easily port their offspring on the mobile platform - WP8 will have a common platform to Windows 8 - DirectX and graphics drivers. Easier porting Android and iOS-applications. It is known that among the first games will be hits Gameloft - Nova Asphalt 3 and 7.

The new OS is native support for NFC (for example, you can transfer files and contacts from one device to another by touching - as in the Galaxy S III), and a full-fledged "mobile wallet" a la Google Wallet, but with more advanced features. In WP8 will be closely integrated with Skype, VoIP-calls will be performed entirely analogous to the usual challenges - the user will not even notice the difference. Any VoIP-applications (not just Skype) will be able to work in the background.

Developers will be able to build support for voice commands in any of its applications to let you manage them through speech. As suggested earlier, in Windows Phone 8 cards will be used, developed by Nokia, NAVTEQ and supporting off-line mode. They will be able to work in the background, ie you can easily switch between the navigation and other applications. Thus, WP-Nokia smartphones lose one of its major advantages.

In the new system, a serious approach to security - support for BitLocker, protected downloads, and more. Changed and the appearance of the main screen - now the "squares" (tiles) can be of three different sizes, and the user is able to change the size for each application. It also includes new color schemes.

The new platform from the start to be available in more than 180 countries and 50 languages. Updates will now be "on air", each unit will receive updates for 18 months after its launch. Unfortunately, almost all of these benefits will not be able to take advantage of the owners of "old" devices on Windows Phone 7.5 for them to upgrade to Windows Phone 8 will be impossible.
